Need washer repair or washing machine repair near you? SteelPeak Appliance Repair fixes washers in homes across Los Angeles, the San Fernando Valley and Santa Clarita, including top-load, front-load and high-efficiency models.

A washer that won't drain or spin stops the whole house. Our technician finds the actual cause (a clogged drain pump, a door lock, a worn belt or suspension, a control board), explains your options in plain language, and gives you the price before any repair work starts. We work on top-load, front-load and high-efficiency (HE) washers from the major brands.

COMMON PROBLEMS

What your washer is telling you

Common washer problems and what usually causes them. The diagnostic visit tells you which one it is.

Won't drain, water left in the drum.

Usually a clogged drain-pump filter or pump, a kinked or blocked drain hose, or a failed drain pump. On many models a lid or door-lock fault stops the cycle before it drains.

Check first: look for a kink in the drain hose behind the washer. Many front-loaders have a small filter door at the bottom front; put towels down before opening it.

Won't spin, clothes come out soaking wet.

Often the same drain problem (a washer won't spin with water in the tub), an unbalanced load, a worn drive belt or motor coupling, a failed lid switch or door lock, or the motor control board.

Check first: spread the load out evenly and run a drain-and-spin cycle.

Leaking.

Where the water shows up points to the cause. On front-loaders it's often a torn door boot (gasket) or a loose filter cap; on top-loaders, an inlet hose, pump seal or tub seal.

Check first: if an inlet hose at the wall is leaking, turn off both water valves.

Shaking, banging or walking across the floor.

Usually worn shock absorbers, suspension rods or springs; a deep roar during the spin points to worn tub bearings. A washer that isn't level makes all of it worse.

Check first: level the feet and split up heavy items like comforters and towels.

Won't start, or stops with an error code.

Usually a door or lid lock, the water supply, a sensor or the control board. Codes differ by brand (Samsung, LG and Whirlpool each use their own), so write the code down and tell us when you call.

Won't fill, or fills slowly.

Usually closed or partly closed supply valves, a kinked hose, clogged inlet screens or a failed water inlet valve.
