Many Viking gas ovens light the broil burner with a separate igniter, so an oven can bake normally and still refuse to broil. Uneven baking or a slow preheat sends us to the temperature sensor, the convection fan motor or a door that has stopped sealing, and a heavy oven door that drops open or hangs crooked has worn hinges or springs. On electric and dual-fuel models the bake and broil elements and their controls get tested too.
