Wine Cooler Door or Seal Problems

• Worn or torn gasket — The magnetic gasket around the door can harden, flatten or tear with age, and a gap in it lets air past even when the door looks shut.
• Sagging door or loose hinge — A glass door is heavy, and loose hinge screws or a worn hinge pin let it drop at the handle side, so the gasket no longer meets the cabinet evenly.
• Cabinet tilted the wrong way — A cooler that leans forward lets the door drift open, and a sideways tilt can leave a gap along one edge. A forward lean also makes a freestanding cooler easier to tip, so pull out one loaded rack at a time until it is leveled.
• Racks or bottles in the way — A shelf not pushed fully onto its rails, or a large bottle near the front, can hold the door a few millimeters open.
• Door reversed or rehung out of line — After the hinges are moved to the other side, a top bracket or hinge that isn't lined up leaves the door crooked against the gasket.
• Failed seal in the glass panel — An insulated glass door is two or three panes sealed together, and when that seal fails, fog or moisture appears between the panes and the door insulates less.

• Door ajar alarm with the door closed — The door isn't closing far enough to reach its switch or sensor, from sag, a shelf sticking out or a flattened gasket, or that switch or sensor has failed.
• A sheet of paper shut in the door pulls free without resistance — That stretch of gasket has lost its seal.
• Condensation on the outside of the glass near the frame — Cold air is escaping through a gap in the gasket, or the room is humid enough to fog the glass edge.
• Fog trapped between the glass panes — The seal of the insulated glass has failed, so it can't be wiped away from either side.
• Heavy frost on the back wall and shifting temperatures — Humid room air is leaking in along one side of the door and freezing on the cooling surface at the back of the cabinet.
